Season 4 of Apex Legends has only just launched, bringing with it a new update and a new character in Revenant. The game is still fresh again, with players only just exploring everything new on offer. That hasn’t stopped the content from flowing. Apex has been on a real hot streak recently, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Despite coming at a busy time, there will be a valentine’s Day event held for Apex Legends. It’s called Apex Legends’ Valentine’s Day Rendezvous, kind of a mouthful but it is exciting nonetheless.
The event was due to start on Tuesday 11th but has been delayed by at least a day for some last-minute tweaking. Another day’s wait isn’t much of a hardship with the game having so much going on at the moment though. On top of this, this Apex Legends’ Valentine’s Day Rendezvous event is bringing back a pretty popular feature. The game is reintroducing Duos! For a limited time again, but it always makes a nice change from the usual Squads games.
Apex Legends’ Valentine’s Day Rendezvous
The latest event in Apex Legends has a fair bit going on, but the main event is the Duos mode. This lets teams compete in 2s rather than the usual 4s. It is always a nice change of pace, particularly with Apex’s unique balance. Often, Solos can be a bit wonky when every player has different abilities. Duos still allows you to pick Legends that compliment each other. This, in turn, makes some Legends a lot more viable than they are alone. The mode is only going to be active until 18th February though. Or it should have been, it is likely going to gain an extra day or two, depending on how long this delay is.
Alongside the Duos though there is a bit more going on. There is also a special XP event:
- A Double XP event is running.
- You can gain double XP during matches throughout the event, but there is a 20K limit per day.
- You can earn 10k XP each day, which results in 20K after it has been doubled.
- Following this, you’ll earn XP at the normal rate.
You’ll also receive a special Valentine’s 2020 badge as long as you log in at some point during the event.
Cosmetics
Apex Legends events always feature additional cosmetics for players looking for the rarest skins. These have been a point of contention with the community in the past though. The Apex Legends’ Valentine’s Day Rendezvous does include some limited edition cosmetics, but not as many as in the past. This is what you can get your hands on:
- Valentine’s Day-themed gun charms are being released.
- Through the Heart – Longbow – 800 Apex Coins
- Love of the Game –Pathfinder Frame – 500 Apex Coins
That is the only new cosmetics this time around. It might seem a little sparse, but Apex seems to have been avoiding the special loot box mechanics that got them in so much hot water during the Iron Crown event. Overwatch seems to make limited-time loot boxes work, but it is quite pleasant that Apex is backing off from it. Special cosmetics being mainly available as a flat purchase is a pretty agreeable way to run an event.
Apex Legends’ Valentine’s Day Rendezvous is only going to be in the game for a few days. So, if you particularly enjoyed the Duos mode last time around then you might want to get as many games in as possible.
