Fortnite Chapter 2 has so far run a streamlined version of its weapons roster. While this hasn’t changed significantly in Season 2, the balance has been altered. The metagame of Fortnite is constantly evolving with updates. This can make it tricky to keep up to date with what to loot. If you’re looking to perform better in-game, using the best Fortnite Season 2 weapons is going to make looting a lot easier.
While in a Battle Royale you can’t guarantee what loot you get, you can prioritize what you need to go for. A solid loadout of Fortnite Season 2 weapons needs to achieve a few things. You need something close range, something mid or long-range, a healing item or two, and if you have space/opportunity one of the more adventurous weapons like the Rocket Launcher or mini-gun. Within these categories, there are some weapons that are significantly more worthwhile looting than others. This Fortnite season 2 weapons guide overs all of the weapons in the game at the moment, their stats, which to look for, and which to leave lying on the floor.
Fortnite Season 2 Weapons Guide
Mythic Weapons
These Mythic Weapons are a new addition to Fortnite Season 2. However, they are a bit different from what has been in the game previously. To get there, you’ll have to take down one of the bosses. These are overpowered NPCs that are in specific locations. Taking them down rewards you with one of these items, depending on which boss you kill:
- Midas’ Drum Gun – This does 250 DPS and takes 2.7 seconds to reload.
- Skyre’s Assault Rifle – This does 222 DPS and takes 2.1 seconds to reload.
- TNTina’s Boom Bow – It doesn’t really do damage by per second. The shots you fire out with explode like an RPG.
- Brutus Mini-gun – This does 252 DPS and takes 4.5 seconds to reload.
- Meowscles’ Peow Peow Rifle – This does 187 DPS and takes 2.5 seconds to reload.

The heavy and regular assault rifles are the ones to prioritize when looting Fortnite Season 2 weapons.

The Pump and Tactical both have their advantages. However, in terms of damage, the Tactical shotgun does push ahead quite a bit. Both are viable though, and having a decent shotgun is important no matter which one it is.
Submachine Guns
The submachine gun currently available has a headshot multiplier of 2x, a fire rate of 12, and takes magazines of 30. This is how each rarity breaks down for this one of the Fortnite Season 2 weapons

- Legendary – 252 DPS and a reload time of 1.7 seconds.
This is the only submachine gun in the game at the moment, so if you want one of these you don’t have much choice beyond seeking out the rarest one.
Minigun
The minigun has made a return and is one of the more useful Fortnite Season 2 weapons. This gun is really good for structural damage. With enough rounds, you can easily blast out the bottom layer of a fort and bring down an entire structure. It has a 2.5x headshot multiplier and a 0.33 fire rate.
- Epic – This has a 49.5 DPS and a reload time of 4.3 seconds.
- Legendary – This has a 51.8 DPS and a 4.1 reload time.
Sniper Rifle
In Chapter 2 of Fortnite, sniper rifles have been thin on the ground! This is bad news if that’s what you’re particularly skilled at. These are your options for a sniper.
- Epic – 4 DPS and a reload time of 1.9 seconds.
- Legendary – 33 DPS and a reload 1.8 seconds.
Rocket Launcher
The Rocket Launcher is great for damaging structures and generally getting things done in the late game. It has no headshot multiplier. This is what you can expect from each variety.
- Uncommon – 7 DPS and a 4.1 second reload time.
- Rare – 75 DPS and a 3.6 second reload time.
- Epic –2 DPS and a 3.1 second reload time.
- Legendary –5 DPS and a 2.5 second reload time.
Those are all of the Fortnite Season 2 weapons that actually work as guns. As with Chapter 2 Season 1, it is a pared-down list. The only real sections where you have a call to make about which variety to use is shotguns and assault rifles. Within those though, there are some clear standouts.
