1. Renegade Raider

Honorable Mention: Recon Expert

The Recon Expert. This little skin dominated the top of rarest Fortnite skins lists for a lot of years, but it just can’t make the grade for the rarest Fortnite skins in 2021. Why? It came back.

Recon Expert came briefly back to the store. Normally, this wouldn’t have too big of an impact. However, this particular skin has been at the center of conversations about the rarest skins for some time. So, what happens when it pops back up? A lot of players bought it, so this is now really a more common skin. It isn’t exactly one of the best Fortnite skins in 2021 either, so it is more interesting for its history now than anything else.

50. Blue Team Leader

This skin isn’t one of the 50 rarest Fortnite skins because of its age or price, just its availability. You could only get this one by subscribing to PSPlus. There are plenty of people out there playing on a PlayStation with this skin. However, it is more limited than those just available in the shop since it is only available to some console players. It was also timed as a PSPlus exclusive, eventually being replaced. This has made it one of the rarest Fortnite skins in 2021, but only on some platforms and lobbies.

49. Moisty Merman

Want to look obnoxious? This is the skin for you! That is a little unfair, this skin is kind of great in a way too. It is loud and a bit distracting, but that’s half of the fun of having the rarest Fortnite skins in 2021. 47. Diamond Hanz

This skin was added to the game in 2021, so it is hard to say it is the rarest skin overall. However, it was only available for April Fools Day. Given that this is an event skin, and a joke skin, it’s unlikely to return. Its design is based on a meme, but also a trending news topic at the time, it likely won’t be relevant enough to make sense in future April Fools. This purple variety of skin was originally part of the Season 3 Battle Pass. It isn’t the most interesting skin out there, but it does demonstrate that you’ve been playing the game for a long time! Jonsey in a cosmonaut outfit is at least a stylistically cool entry to the rarest Fortnite skins in 2021. As a Battle Pass skin, once you missed this one it isn’t coming back. So, skins like Mission Specialist get rarer and rarer the longer the game goes on.

39. Rust Lord

This skin is another one from Season 3. However, this one has made some returns. It isn’t as rare as some other Battle Pass exclusive skins, but you don’t see it all the time in the game.

38. Moonwalker

This one is the Female variant of all the Astronaut styled skins that were in the game back in Season 3. Like the others, this is a real demonstration of how long you’ve been playing Fortnite for. 34. Blue Squire

This is one of the duller entries on this list, it kind of just looks like a scruffy default. However, it is pretty rare. 33. Purple Glow Skull Trooper

This is one of the rarest Fortnite skins, despite coming back to the shop for a little while. It was part of the 2017 Halloween skins called Skull Trooper.
