UPDATE: Based on all the lovely feedback we’ve received in comments and emails we’ve gone ahead and created a new list of the rarest and best Fortnite Skins to date. Check out the Top 50 Rarest Fortnite Skins.
What are the coolest Fortnite Skins. We’ve asked our readers, consulted the forums and leaned on the pros to compile a list of the best and rarest Fortnite Skins out there.
Now, keep in mind this list is subject to change as Epic can decide to re-release skins at any time.
25. Tomato Head
- Still in Rotation: Yes
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1,500 V-Bucks ($15)
The Tomato Head character skin is based on the famous Tomato Town Mascot. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Tomato Town is no more, but the Tomato Head will live thanks to the Tomato Temple and the Tomato Head costume.
24. Chomp Sr.
- Still in Rotation: Yes
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks ($20)
In all honesty, this skin looks like a bad Halloween costume that a lazy teenager scrapped together after watching a marathon of Sharknado movies. But in a strange way, that is exactly what makes this skin so desirable. Go figure.
23. Wukong
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks ($20)
Wukong is one of the more expensive skins and was released around the period of Chinese New Year in order to celebrate that holiday. The skin portrays Wukong who is essentially a monkey warrior in gilded armor and he looks awesome.
22. Dire
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks)
The Big Bad Wolf of Little Red Riding Hood lore makes this list. It was obtainable as a reward for reaching tier 100 on Season 6 Battle Pass. Or maybe its thre dire wolves of Game of Thrones Legend. You be the judge.
21. Rook
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
The Rook character skin was obtainable as a reward for reaching Tier 87 during Fortnite Battle Pass Season 5 and looks like a take on a Frontier librarian who is ready to punish all those who don’t return their books in time.
20. Bunny Brawler
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1,500 V-Bucks ($15)
Bunny Brawler is a cute bunny skin which was released during the Easter holidays along with the Bunny Raider skin. The skin features an adorable one-piece pajama suit along with ears and bunny slippers. The whole shebang.
19. Mothmando
- Still in Rotation: Yes
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1,500 V-Bucks ($15)
This character skin is a Fortnite take on the popular folklore legend of the Mothman. Admittedly, the creature is a lot less horrific in Fortnite than in the legends that inspired it.
18. Sgt. Green Clover
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Uncommon (Green)
- Cost: 800 V-Bucks
The Sgt Green Clover skin was last seen during the St. Patricks 2018. Time will tell if we see this skin regularly for this holiday. But as of now, it’s a rare skin.
17. Purple Skull Trooper
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1,200 V-Bucks
The Skull Trooper, specifically the Purple Skull Trooper is a rare skin. This is because the Purple version was only available to players who purchased the skin in 2017. The skin was re-released in 2018 with other variants.
16. Fable
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks)

15. Love Ranger
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks ($20)
Love Ranger is basically the Fortnite version of Cupid except that this version is made of stone and a lot more scary looking than other depictions of Cupid. It is a Valentine’s day themed character skin and will probably available during Valentine’s Day.
14. Dark Voyager
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
The Dark Voyager character skin was obtainable as a reward for reaching Tier 70 during Fortnite Battle Pass Season 3 and is similar to an Astronaut set but with a black and orange theme to it instead of white.
13. Codename E.L.F.
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Rare (Blue)
- Cost: 1,200 V-Bucks
This skin was released during the holiday season of 2018 and we have not seen it in the item shop since! It’s a nice skin to have during the winter seasons if you really want to spread some holiday cheer when going for those Victory Royales.
12. Dusk
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
Dusk character skin was obtainable as a reward for reaching Tier 71 during Fortnite Battle Pass Season 6 and is truly a marvel to look at. It features a female in a black leather outfit with claws, bat wings, and piercing red eyes. It was obviously inspired by vampires and gothic culture.
11. Valor
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
Valor character skin was obtainable as a reward for reaching Tier 71 during Fortnite Battle Pass Season 4 and it is most likely inspired by Wonder Woman and various other heroes.
10. Crackshot
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks ($20)
Crackshot is a character skin that features a huge terrifying Nutcracker mask which is silly in all honesty. And while the set won’t give you any tactical advantage on the battlefield, it will certainly make everyone notice you. So if that is what you are going for, this is the skin for you.
9. Dante and Rosa of the Muertos Set
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1,500 V-Bucks ($15)
Dante and Rosa of the Muertos Set is another skin set which features both a male and a female version. The set is clearly inspired by the Mexican culture and Day of the Dead and as such, incorporates elements of both.
8. Recon Expert
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Rare (Blue)
- Cost: 1200 V-Bucks
Not exactly the sexiest skin to make the list but rare nonetheless. This skin is another that hit the item shop early on and has not been back since.
7. Ragnarok
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
Ragnarok is a progressive skin which gets additional bells and whistles as the player completes the challenges related to the skin. While the basic version of Ragnarok is nothing to sneeze at, the fully unlocked Viking is a sight to behold. Ragnarok was obtainable as a Tier 100 Season 5 Battle Pass reward.
6. Ghoul Trooper
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 1500 V-Bucks ($15)
Ghoul Trooper released as a Halloween 2017 promotion. This was before the popularity spike Fortnite saw in 2018 and therefore this skin as not widely purchased.
5. Galaxy
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: Samsung Galaxy Note or the Galaxy Tab S4 ($400+)
The Galaxy skin is currently the most expensive skin to date as it required the pre-order or purchase of the Samsung Galaxy Note or the Galaxy Tab S4. Players then needed to install Fortnite on the device and play 3 games. At which time, they were rewarded with the skin. This skin is rare because it was only available to Samsung customers. This skin went mainstream when Ninja was seen using it.
4. Sparkle Specialist
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Epic (Purple)
- Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks ($20)
A disco themed skin, the Sparkle Specialist appeared in Season 2 and hasn’t reappeared since. If you want to get your YMCA on, you’ll have to wait until this skin hits the shelves again.
3. Aeriel Assualt Trooper
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: 1,200 V-Bucks ($12)
The Aeriel Assault Trooper was available in Season 1 only making it a very rare skin. You were able to receive the skin after you reached level 15 and paid 1200 V Bucks. It hasn’t been seen in the shop since.
2. Black Knight
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Legendary (Orange)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks
Available after purchasing the Season 2 Battle Pass, the Black Knight skin is a rare one indeed. You would have needed to reach Teir 70 to obtain this skin and it also came bundled with a cool back bling sheild. Having this skin says you’ve been in the game for quite some time. The Black Knight skin is cool looking skin that’s sure to get the attention of your foes.
1. Renegade Raider
- Still in Rotation: No
- Rarity: Rare (Blue)
- Cost: Base Battle Pass costs 1200 V-Bucks
Available during Season 1 only and after you’ve reached level 20, this is the rarest Fortnite Skin to date. Due to only being available during Season 1 and it not being a very attractive skin to some, not many players purchased this skin. It has never been re-released giving it the top spot on our list.

Hope you enjoyed this list, and if you did make sure to share it!

The Galaxy skin isn’t exactly rare given that anyone with a cell phone can get it. Maybe we’ll add it later
The list has been updated to reflect the current status of the skins
Where is skull trooper red knight and OMEGA !!!!
red knight got rereleased plenty of times so
Skull Trooper? Drift? Abstrakt?
Honestly, this post is pretty correct and I do believe the renegade raider is the rarest but the reaper should be up there too
How is Calamity rarer then Dire, where is purple skull trooper or ghoul trooper.
YOU ARE ALL WRONG IT IS THE RECON EXPERT
You are right
Bro, the recon expert is back in the shop
what about season 1 through season 10 default skin
The rarest skin is the renegade raider
I have all of it so go me but you forgot that the worst oone to buy is the raptor people
You have recon expert and renagade raider? Add me then let’s go to the lobby I want to see them my Epic name is the same as my name on this

Where is the ghoul trooper or the galaxy skin
Sgt. Green clover should be 5th Reply if you agree
no one cares that you have all them, stop trying to flex.
Okay now let’s listen to a real remark
Same
What about The Reaper skin or Omega?
Why is the sparkle specialist listed as a skin you could purchase when it was in the season 2 battle pass on like tier 63?
I want galaxy skin
I want them
How rare is the cabbie skin?
bring back Renegade Raider in the item shop plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!………
It is possibly coming back because a gold version is coming to OG’s soon I think.
they would not bring renegade raider back, only reason if they did would be to get more money and people to play. but it would also upset season 1 players like me i have rengade and i hope it never comes back.
The recon came back so where is midnight ops
The renegade raider and areal assault were in the season shop so that makes midnight ops the rarest item shop skin
This list is clearly wrong, the Recon Expert is the rarest skin NOT THE RENEGADE RAIDER.
No the Aeriel assault trooper is the rarest skin and then the recon expert then renegade raider.
its the recon then renegade then aerial then ghoul trooper then og skull trooper
Please Black knight
Yes! Finally a person with brain cells
Is renegade skin rare not renegade raider the normal ranigade
No it’s not, it’s back in the shop bro
Drift is an og ish skin and should be added. If it is level 5 in deffenantly in and all the others are a no.
Galaxy skin is the rarest skin ever
galaxy skin is in a good place for this list recon expert should be first then ariel then renegade ikonik is kind of rare. ragnarok full se is rare i have it and almost never wear or see it
Recon expert is 2 arial assult trooper is 1 and ghoul trooper is 3 and where is omega he is rarer than ragnorok
THE RECON EXPERT IS THE RAREST SKIN IN THE FORTNITE WORLD
The omen is one of the rarest skins in the games I don’t see it WTF
No way in hell is omega more rare. Black night goes back to season 2 where there was a few million players. Not even half of them purchased the season pass. And on top of the that there was no season challenges to go up in tiers. Pure leveling or spending a fortune to get it
Where is ikonik
Recon expert is the rarest and Omega is rarer than black knight
Drift in 1
Ghoul trooper aint rare no more got re released hot wire and glow are rarer than rosa and dante also love ranger aint rare
love ranger has stopped coming out ghoul trooper is rare as there is an OG skin rose and dante not rare they showed up yesterday and hotwire and glow not rare at all
no Ghoul trooper is rare if you have the pink one
Drift is 1
Looks like Eminem
Renegade Raidor is not rare I have it, plaus the galaxy.
Yes but maybe instead of spending $1000’s of dollars on a fortnite account you should spend it on some literacy lessons to learn how to spell and learn proper grammar.
for real tho
Good news everyone – we have a new list for everyone to argue over.
https://bestfortnitesettings.com/50-rarest-fortnite-skins/

I believe that renegade raider is not the rarest one, but indeed is one of the best skins. If you want it, maybe you could get it in this site, which is really trustful https://mmoauctions.com/fortnite/items
