Emotes in Fortnite are one of the few cosmetics that are handed out for free. You get them as free and paid Battle Pass rewards. On top of that, you get them for completing random challenges, attending events, and just generally playing the game. So, there is an incredible amount of rare Fortnite emotes out there.

Why exactly does one emote become rarer than another though? The major difference is that they’re unobtainable. Emotes that you can no longer get can be considerably rarer. The older Fortnite emotes that you can no longer get are naturally a lot rarer. However, how much players want them is a factor too. What is the Rarest Emote in Fortnite?

The rarest Fortnite emotes are probably those included in the earliest Battle Passes. The battle Pass cosmetics are items that are locked into very specific periods of the game. Once that time passes, you can’t get them back. However, their unlock conditions are pretty much the same. So, it is pretty difficult to rank the rarest Fortnite emotes from Battle Pass, without just saying that it is the Season 2 items; the first time they were included in a Battle Pass. 1. Rambunctious

The description of Rambunctious is ‘the embodiment of boundless energy’ and it definitely sums that up. For the rarest emote in Fortnite and the entire item shop, it isn’t exactly very notable. This is pretty much just a dance! If you happened to feel like buying an emote nearly a thousand days ago though, you might have this one of the rarest Fortnite emotes. 2. Fresh

This is one that gets more interesting. On the surface, this is just another dance emote! However, it is taken from a character in the 90s sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air; the Carlton dance. Fortnite often uses pop culture in inspiration, but in this case, it wasn’t taken positively.  The actor behind the Carlton dance tried to cash in on Fortnite’s success and unsuccessfully attempted to sue Epic, so this one of the rare Fortnite emotes is probably never coming back to the item shop.

It’s worth noting here that the actor probably didn’t really have any grounds for claiming this emote. He merely performance a dance in a TV show, with many other members of staff directing him years ago, and made no effort to take ownership of it until Epic began to sell an emote. The lawsuit seemed like an attempt to cash in on Fortnite’s success by an actor who has had little work since he left a sitcom decades ago. However, with legal hassles and increased negative coverage, Epic probably aren’t bringing back this emote.

3. Tidy

Tidy is another emote which has a good explanation for going missing. This one fairly easily syncs up to a dance from Snoop Dogg. This is likely a similar situation to the last one of the best Fortnite dance emotes. It probably got removed to try and avoid any future potential legal problems such as those that the Fresh emote caused. Just like it, scarcity has made it one of the rarest emotes in Fortnite.

The Tidy Fortnite dance emote isn’t going to be coming back, but players who bought it at the time can be sure they’ve gotten one of the rarest Fortnite emotes.

4. Widow’s Pirouette

Widow’s Pirouette is one of the rare Fortnite emotes since it pretty much hasn’t been cycled back into the game since its original release. While it isn’t as rare as the top three, this one definitely is hard to come by. This emote was first available in Season 8 as part of the Marvel set. While many of these items came back in Chapter 2 with fresh Marvel content, this emote was making. This has made it one of the Top 50 rarest Fortnite emotes. 

5. Dance Off

This is another Fortnite emote which originates form an early Marvel tie in. Like the others, this one hasn’t made it back to the game since release. Given that other emotes and skins from marvel have come back since, there is probably some reason why Dance Off and Widow’s Pirouette haven’t returned. Whatever reason it is, this has become one of the rarest Fortnite emotes. 

6. Kiss the Cup

The Kiss the Cup emote is an emote of you raising up a trophy. Naturally, it works well for showboating after you get a win in a game. The trophy was only briefly available to tie into competitive events in Fortnite. This one hasn’t been seen in quite a while, so it is currently one of the rarest Fortnite emotes.

7. Fanciful

Fanciful is the next rarest Fortnite emotes. The emote was first released in April 2019, and it hasn’t been available ever since.  There isn’t much of a reason why this skin hasn’t appeared since it first appeared. Unlike some of the others, there doesn’t seem to be a clear reason for this one to never come back. However, it is one of the rarest emotes in Fortnite.

8. Accolades

Accolades is a fairly mundane emote. The player blows kisses and waves to an invisible crowd, with a background noise of the crowd. This is kind of fun, but it doesn’t have a lot to set it apart from the crowd. This emote wasn’t part of any set but for some reason, it has never come back to the item shop. This has put it close to the rarest emote in Fortnite, but only in the top 10.

9. Rawr

Rawr is another one of the rare Fortnite dance emotes since it hasn’t been in the item shop for quite a long time. This one is kind of dinosaur themed.  It appeared for a few days in July 2018, then one day in September 2018. It hasn’t been back since. This part of the rare Fortnite emotes is based off of a viral video of someone doing a dinosaur impression. So, this one might be rare and not in rotation to avoid referencing actually people like some of the others here.

10. Lavish
