Fortnite looting has changed a lot over the seasons, but the llamas remain a rare treat. These are a batch of loot you can find in game that can really save time on harvesting mats and gathering everything that you need. Like supply drops, they provide a set of high-tier gear and resources that can set you up for an entire game. So why isn’t the game dominated by llamas? They’re kind of rare. You can play a lot of matches without coming across one. They’re spawned in random places, which makes it difficult to ever track them down. This guide covers how llama work, what we know about where they spawn, and how you can track down the Chapter 2 llama spawn locations.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Llamas – How Do Llamas Work?
Llamas might seem like a random boost in-game, a drop of stuff that really sets you up, but completely at random. We do actually know how they work to a point though. We even know partially what is going to be inside of a Llama. While some stuff is random, Supply Llamas are guaranteed to contain a particular amount of loot too. You’re going to get these items in every Llama:
- 10 of Each Ammo
- 350 of Each Resource (Wood, Stone, and Metal)
- 3 Stacks of Consumable Items
Those are the basics for the Chapter 2 Llamas. Although, you might also be getting something different in there too, like Bounce pads or other Trap items.
Where to Find Chapter 2 Llamas
Chapter 2 Llamas can give you everything you need to set up for a full game. So how do you go about finding one? That’s the difficult part. Unlike supply drops they’re not marked on the map at all. So they are difficult to spot without scouring the entire map. Despite this, there are some patterns to how they spawn. Over time, players have found that some spots offer more loot llamas than others. You’re unlikely to find one in the middle of a POI, and there are certain spots that seem to roll that random Chapter 2 llama drop more often.
Each round in the game contains three supply llama on the map. These are spawned when the game starts, they’re sat there from dropping. If you’re looking for one, you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled. Now that there is five in a game though, you do stand a much better chance of actually finding one than when it was limited to three.
In terms of spawn locations, this map shows where the most common loot llama spawns are:

These aren’t guaranteed spots, but they are the densest in llama locations. On top of this, they can spawn pretty much anywhere. You can even find one halfway up a tree. Keep an eye out for map changes too, as these can interact weirdly. A good example is the recent Stark Industries floating isle. For a short while, this upset Chapter 2 llama spawns. You’d find them commonly in the ground below the raised isle, with the different terrain on a large portion of the map messing up their spawns. Equally the early parts of the flooded map led to inaccessible llamas hidden under the water.
How to Find Loot Llamas When Dropping
Those spots offer the best chance of finding a Chapter 2 llama, if you really need to grab one though it is best to focus on it when dropping. When you’re dropping in, you can spot them fairly easily in open areas. Llamas primarily spawn in these areas too, so spotting one in a pretty plain field is pretty easy. Keep your eyes peeled, the purple should stand out from the green. It also helps to have your draw distance set as high as possible, to ensure that they’re actually visible at that distance.
Llamas can be difficult to spot, but those spawn locations should help you find them in Chapter 2. Our other guides to Fortnite Chapter 2 can help you work on the rest of your gameplay:
