Fortnite’s Chapter 2 has brought a lot of new weapons to the game. This has given the game a fresh balance and meta. With so many new weapons, things are feeling pretty different. Mechanics like landing in the right spots and rotating are still important. However, you really need to know which weapons are in the game, and which are the best ones to go for. This Fortnite Season 5 weapons guide covers what’s in the game, how it works, and what the top tier weapons are.
Fortnite Season 5 weapons are quite a different balance to last season. A fan-favorite shotgun has been vaulted, along with some other high-value weapons. In their place are returning classic, but also some new weapons. This guide covers everything you need to know:
Fortnite Season 5 Weapons Guide
What Was Vaulted and Unvaulted in Fortnite Season 5?
With every new season of Fortnite, we get new content but also the removal of some things. Things that get vaulted aren’t gone forever, but for at least the opening few weeks of the season. This is everything that got vaulted in Fortnite Season 5:
- Revolver
- Fire Trap
- Scoped Assault Rifle
- Pump Shotgun (Epic and Legendary)
- Combat Shotgun (Legendary)
- SCAR Assault Rifle
- Burst Assault Rifle
- Tactical SMG (Epic/Legendary)
- Stark Industries Weapons
- Past Mythic Weapons
A lot of these vaultings remove the weapons in their more advanced forms. While this means they’re not gone entirely, it pretty much removes them from the competition when it comes to the late game. This is what has been unvaulted:
- Charge Shotgun
- Tactical Shotgun
- Heavy Assault Rifle
- Tactical Assault Rifle
- Tactical Shotgun
- SMGStorm Scout Rifle
Fortnite Season 5 Weapons – Full Guide
The Fortnite Season 5 weapons reflect the game’s current theme, with a lot more medium-range options and less of a focus on high powered shotguns. This is how all of the stats break down for each weapon in the game now:
Assault Rifles – Fortnite Season 5 Weapons
Assault Rifles are the bread and butter of Fortnite. Used best at a medium-range, these weapons are a must-have in any loadout We’ve grouped a few of the new weapons into here too since they best fit the Assault Rifle category.

The Assault rifles this time around are a mixed bag. None of them really replace the function of another, so there isn’t an objective best choice here. Instead, go for the one that best fits your play style for the Fortnite Season 5 weapons.
Shotguns – Fortnite Season 5 Weapons
Shotguns are vital for close combat in Fortnite and probably the most important weapon. That’s probably why Epic likes to particularly screw around with Shotguns, vaulting and unvaulting them seemingly at random. This time around some favorites have gone, this is what remains:
Charge Shotgun
- Green – This one has a DPS of 48.85, 85 damage, fire rate of 0.85, magazine size of 3, and a reload time of 4.6.
- Blue – This one has a DPS of 53.55, damage of 63, fire rate of 0.85, magazine size of 3, and a reload time of 4.4.
- Purple – The purple Charge Shotgun has a DPS 59.5, damage of 70, fire rate of 0.85, magazine size of 4, and a reload time of 4.2.
- Orange – This one has a DPS of 62.05, damage of 73, fire rate of 0.85, magazine size of 4, and a reload time of 4.
Tactical Shotgun
- Grey – This has a DPS of 108, damage of 72, fire rate of 1.5, mag size of 8, and reload time of 6.3.
- Green – This one of the Fortnite Season 5 weapons has a DPS of 114, 76 damage, fire rate 1.5, mag size of 8, reload time of 6.
- Blue – The weapon here has a DPS of 120, damage of 80, fire rate of 1.5, mag size of 8, and reload time of 5.7.
- Purple – DPS is 126, the damage is 84, fire rate of 1.5, mag size of 8, and a reload time of 5.4
- Orange – The DPS here is 132, damage 88, fire rate 1.5, mag size of 8, and reload time of 5.1
Dragon’s Breath
- Purple – DPS is 133, the damage is also 133, fire rate is 1, magazine size is 4, and a reload time of 4.3.
- Orange – DPS, and damage are 140, fire rate is 1 exactly, mag size is 4, and the reload time is 4.1.
The Dragon Shotgun is definitely interesting but not one that can be used consistently. For the Fortnite Season 5 weapons, it is worth getting to know the slower Charge Shotgun. A hassle at first, this weapon can be just as useful as the Pump once it has been mastered.
Machine Guns – Fortnite Season 4 Weapons Guide
Machine Guns have continued to be a major presence in the Fortnite Season 5 weapons. If you’re looking to spray your way out of any encounter, you’ve got a lot of options here:
Suppressed Submachine Gun
- Grey – This has a DPS of 156, damage of 20, fire rate of 7.8, magazine size of 30, and a reload time of 2.2.
- Green – The green Sub has a DPS of 163.8, damage of 21, fire rate of 7.8, magazine size of 30, and a reload time of 2.1.
- Blue – The DPS here is 171.6, damage of 22, fire rate of 7.8, magazine size of 30, and a reload time of 2.
Submachine Gun
- Green – This one has a DPS of 160, damage of 16, fire rate of 10, magazine size of 30, and a reload time of 2.5.
- Blue – The DPS of this weapon is 170, damage of 17, fire rate of 10, magazine size of 30, and a reload time of 2.4.
- Purple – This has a DPS of 190, damage of 19, fire rate of 10, magazine size of 35, and a reload time of 2.2.
- Orange – The DPS here is 200, the damage is 20, fire rate of 10, magazine size of 35, and reload time is 2.1. Machine guns serve pretty different purposes but none of them are really worth prioritizing over others. You might find yourself just going for whichever one is available.
Pistol – Fortnite Season 3 Weapons Guide
Pistols are dull. Yet, they are an important part of the game. Even if that ‘importance’ fades about a minute in once everyone’s found themselves a decent weapon. Although, it can be fun to mess around with pistols. These are the ones available this time:

Rocket Launcher
- Orange – This Rocket Launcher has a DPS of 97.5, damage of 130, fire rate of 0.75, magazine size of 1, and a reload time of 2.5.
