Fortnite Chapter 2 began as a few days to wait for a new season to launch. The game being down for all this time captured the attention of players, but it seems like Epic is making up for it with Chapter 2. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 doesn’t seem like it will ever end. The season has already been delayed once to make room for ‘more live events’ over new years, which didn’t turn out to be anything particularly special. The date was pushed back to January, as players began to move onto other games to keep themselves occupied. However, a recent leak indicating another day has recently been confirmed by Epic, Chapter 2 Season 1 end is going to be getting even further away.
Fortnite Chapter 2 was extended back in November. The end date for the season was pushed all the way back to mid-February. This has been the date that players were working from until this week. Even with that initial delay, the Season was by far longer than seasons of Fortnite typically reach. However, the game looks set to remain in Season 1 for a little while longer. The leak initially got players wondering just what Epic was planning, with more sources indicating something big.
The complete overhaul of the game that came with Fortnite chapter 2 didn’t lead to a delay of the game. Despite introducing loads of new mechanics and a brand new map, the season ended just when it was supposed to. Yet, Chapter 2 Season 1 has now gone on for months longer than we previously indicated, so just what is Epic planning? A change in engine. Just how this will affect things remains to be seen though.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 End Date
The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 end date has been pushed back from mid-February, to Thursday 20 February. At least we now have a solid date! Even more than this though, Epic has confirmed the release date of the next update. It can’t be expected until early February, which means the game is going to be sitting still for quite a while longer.
Just what is planned for the next season is currently puzzling players. It is very unlikely to be a new map, considering we’ve barely gotten started with this map. It is possible that we’ll see a big expansion of the game, like the second map returning with a different player queue. The delay will facilitate transitioning to a different engine. However, it is clear that this migration is happening for a reason. This new engine may be able to better support Epic’s future plans for the game, such as that teased 200 player lobby.
What’s Left to do in Chapter 2 Season 1?
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 is going to be remaining the same for at least the rest of the month. Players might be getting a bit bored at this time. Epic has promised more Overtime challenges to fill in the gaps. However, until they materialize the game is pretty much at a standstill.
Also promised for the remainder of the Season is a two-week event. Although, like the Overtime Challenges this won’t be coming before the next update, which isn’t due until close to the Season’s original end date. This looks set to another DC Comics crossover, promoting the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. Until some of this new content makes its way into the game, you’ve got the time to work on the fundamentals!
