Apex Legends’ roster of characters has grown substantially since release. There are now 16 Legends to choose from. Each offers something unique and fits a different play style. However, in more competitive tiers of the game some stand out more. Some Legends are better balanced in the titles metagame, giving players a clear advantage with this Legend. Playing at the highest tier or in Apex Legends esports makes it more important to choose a Legend favored by the metagame. Apex is under pretty constant revision. So tier lists don’t last forever. This Apex Legends Season 8 tier list covers the game at the moment. This tier list is subjective, so it isn’t definitive on which is best. Overall though, these are the Legends who the current meta game favors.
Apex Legends Season 8 Tier List – Top Tier Legends
Wraith
Wraith is an older Legend but one that has remained fairly strong in the game’s balance. She is tied for the most-played champion by pro and high Legend Apex players. This typically indicates that the Legend is particularly effective in-game, since most teams are opting to use her in major events. In terms of play style, Wraith has the ability to heal, be very mobile during gunfights, and gives you extra intel. It is an offensive choice of a Legend, but one that rewards thought out plays.
Bloodhound
Bloodhound is another OG Legend and one that hasn’t exactly proven to be the most popular. However, some nice buffs over the Seasons a kept him as a competitive choice. In terms of utility for a team. Bloodhound has become an important part of competitive matches. He’s tied with Wraith for the most used heroes in high end matches.
Horizon
Horizon is a more recent addition to Apex Legends but she’s made a big impact already. In major events she’s played a critical role, and often appears oversized in terms of her competitive performance. This Legends works well for players who need to maneuver around quickly. You can grab high ground and significantly increase your control in the air. If you’re not afraid to use the air to take a better angle on a fight, Horizon is a great choice as a higher character in Apex Legends Season 8 tier list.
Apex Legends Season 8 Tier List – A Tier
Gibraltar
Gibralter has been a big part of Apex teams since launch, but he doesn’t quite make the top tier anymore. He has some benefits, like being able to tank a lot of damage and deploy defensive shields. However, the nerf to healing items inside of the shield has considerably reduced its effectiveness. Gibralter hasn’t kept the highest tier in Apex Legends Season 8 tier lists, but he still has a lot of uses.
Pathfinder
Pathfinder is another Legend kind of like bloodhound that has a major team utility role. His abilities are suited for providing movement, but he works aggressively too. Pathfinder’s use rate in higher end matches is still pretty high, but just a bit short of placing him in the top tier. His hitboxes has increased lately, but not so much as to move him down too much in this list.
Apex Legends Season 8 Tier List – B Tier
Fuse
Fuse is the newest addition to the game’s tier lists. He has some big things working in his favor, and time might tell if he can make the jump up to the higher tier. At the moment though, he is too circumstial to really rise up.
Lifeline
As the game’s only dedicated healer, you would assume that Lifeline would have a pretty big role to play. However, with the other defensive and healing options available Lifeline has struggled to stay vital to a team’s composition. She is one of the most used Legends, but fails to really make the jump to vital.
Mirage
Much like fuse, Mirage’s abilities rely far too much on being in specific situations. They’re just not entirely useful for the majority of the match. There have been a few buffs to him lately, but not enough to change much.
Caustic
Caustic was nerfed pretty hard this season. This has made him drop considerably in tier lists. His declined ability to get much done has placed him here, but some reversals could quickly see him rise back up.
Octane
Octane is a particularly aggressive Legend which makes his inclusion on this Apex Legends Season 8 Tier list a bit more complicated. He is great for completely aggressive players, but not so much for the team-based tactics that it takes to win in this game.
Wattson
Wattson is another Legend who is too situational to really be effective, but her situation-benefits are a bit more universal. She’s great for the late game, especially for zoning and establishing elaborate chains of abilities. For some teams, having a pure late game legend can work really well but she doesn’t get all that much play.
Loba
Loba is helpful for looting up in-game, but for most teams with a decent understanding of things like the map and looting strategies, this shouldn’t be a major problem. She really fulfills a role that just isn’t necessary for more experienced players, even if the teleports can be used really creatively.
C-Tier
The C-Tier heroes are those that are really unfavored at the moment! These each have a decent chance of rising back up the rankings with more balance changes, but for now they’re not incredibly useful. These are the lower players in the Apex Legends Season 8 Tier list:
Bagalore- Her abilities have had a few buffs, but they’re basically pale imitations of those used by other legends.
Crypto – A weird Legend. He’s seen some great use in competitive games by very skilled players, but too odd to make a real dent in the game’s larger scene.
Reverent – More style than substance for this character. Most abilities are outclassed by similar ones or just too close to them. Death Totem oftens falls short when actually used in Battle too.
Rampart – Rampart originally looked like a really effective Legend, but she has become mainly useless outside of specific scenarios.
That’s a rough idea of where each Legend stands in the Apex Legends Season 8 Tier list. However, in a game like this there is a lot more going on than just a straight judgment on a character’s effectiveness.
What Matters Outside of Apex Legends Season 8 Tier Lists?
Tier Lists are generally pretty subjective, and they massively depend on what type of player you are. This list just looks at how they’re generally balanced in terms of patches and changes as Seasons progress, along with the data from high level games. Even in top tier esports, lower tier Legends can kill with a player who has really taken the time to hone their skills.
Tier lists less exist to write entire characters out of consideration, and more to show the difficulty for a character. It is harder for a lower tier character to be as effective as a high tier, the game’s balance makes sure of that. However, even a situational legend can be lethal in the right hands.
